Nakaita Moore, One Confident Social Worker

Hello Everyone,

New month with New goals to achieve. I told myself earlier this year that I wanted to switch up the blog a bit by featuring other amazing women from around the world that are doing amazing things while becoming who they are meant to be. We all have a story to share with many ups and downs and sometimes you just want to be able to relate with someone that shares the same similar story as you. This is why I always tell people, you’re the author of your life, share your story the good and the bad.  You just never know who might learn from it and need to hear your story so it can be the motivation and push they need to remind themselves that everything will be “OK”.

This Month I wanted to share one of my good friends story on her journey to becoming a social worker. I’ve known Nakaita for about 7/8 years, we met at a modeling casting audition and clicked instantly. She has always been genuine to me with  a heart of gold and is a beautiful person inside and out. For the past 3 years I have seen her sacrifice so much to obtain her masters in social work. Not only did she sacrifice so much but she hustled her way leaving her little to no time for herself to breathe. She worked full time as well as intern all while going to school full time. She was determined to get it by any means and despite life throwing some curveballs her way, she didn’t stop. She kept going even with tears in her eyes. I wanted to share her story to inspire you and remind you it’s ok to make sacrifices to accomplish your goals.

1)Who Is Nakaita Moore?

Nakaita Moore is a 30-year-old woman who lives in her purpose

2) What does self love mean to you?

Self love only exists when one engages in self care.  When you prioritize your happiness, you can secure peace and that is when you’re able to love yourself.  To love yourself, you must be able to say NO.  Self love is the result of living in your truth.

3)You just obtain a Masters degree in Social work?
What were some of the hardships you had to face but you didn’t allow to get in the way of giving up?

There were many hardships faced while obtaining my MSW but it contributed to my growth.  The most interesting hardship that I faced was balance. The journey gave me discipline and because of that, I was obligated to make hard decisions and set boundaries.

4) What were some of the highs? And what/Who was your motivation/inspiration for you not give up?

Some positive elements of my journey would include the mentorship from my professors and the discovery of my self worth.  Some low points in my journey would include simply feeling overwhelmed and disconnected from family and friends. My mother was/is my key source of motivation in all areas of my life.

5)What would you tell you 18 year old self? What would you tell your 25 year old self?

I would tell 18-year-old Nakaita that she is more than the complexion of her skin and her physical features. I would tell her to accept her gift of being different from her peers. I would tell 25-year-old Nakaita to stop seeking validation from men!

6)How important is it to make a difference in people lives by being a social worker?

As a social worker, it is important for me to make a difference in the lives of others because it is God’s purpose for my life.
7) What are some changes you would like to make being a social worker better yet as being just Nakaita?

As a social worker, but as Nakaita first, I would like to change the patterns in people’s lives that do not serve or feed their mental health.

8)What would you tell someone going for their dreams? What would you tell someone obtaining their degrees in social worker?

To all men and women striving to make your dream a reality, you must believe in it more than anyone else.  The strength of your belief will manifest in your actions.

9)You’re also a makeup artist on the side, how do you balance it all?

In being a makeup artist while working towards my career, time management is key.

10)Where do you see yourself in 5 years? What are some  of your future goals?

In five years I can foresee myself as a mother, a Licensed School Social Worker and a fiancĂ©/wife.

11)Is it something you’re afraid of going for? And why? What do you truly believe in?

My ultimate belief is in God because in prayer, I can feel his presence. My belief in God is not a social activity but is an understanding of life.

12) Confidence Is You Because .....

Confidence is me because I said so.  Confidence is me because I am human.  Confidence is me because I know my purpose.

Life Isn't easy and we all go through our ups and down but in order to succeed you have to make sacrifices and know that one day it will all be worth it. You can't expect to be successful without doing the work. It won't be easy but just remember YOU GOT THIS! I've witness Nakaita make so many sacrifices but she was determined and here she is about to change the lives of many especially our future generation. Don't Doubt yourself, just pray, find balance and know that one day God will show you why it was all worth it. Nakaita, Keep shining and changing lives one day at a time. The world needs your light Bella.
